Course Description: This class focuses on preparing for the United States Naturalization interview and exam. Students will
-learn about United States government and history
-fill out a practice naturalization application
-participate in a mock naturalization interview
-practice English skills including asking and answering questions, reading, listening, grammar,
and discussion
-take two CASAS listening exams
Pre-requisite/program: Completion of ESL level 2 or permission from CVAS staff
Textbook & Materials: Voices of Freedom (can be purchased in class from the instructor). Cost is $25.00. We will use the book each
week in class.
Attendance: It is VERY important that you attend class regularly and that you arrive on time. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility
to contact the teacher or another student and make up any missed assignments at home. Check in on the attendance sheet
by the door every day.

Class Rules:
1. Attend class regularly and arrive on time. (If you arrive late, please do not disrupt the class.)
2. Participate in all activities, including lectures, discussions, and group work.
3. Be respectful of the teacher, adult school staff, and other students.
4. Turn your cell phone to silent in before class starts. No texting, talking, web browsing, etc. in class. If there’s an emergency, please go outside to the
parking lot if you need to use your phone.
5. Practice, practice, practice, and HAVE FUN!
